March 19
Australia Council for the Arts presents head of culture for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Keith Khan in a very interesting talk about cultural diversity and the art of making creative cities on March 19. The event is part of Leading Voices, a series of perspectives on arts and culture by leading Australian and international experts.
The UK-based cultural expert will talk about his projects that promote social inclusion and drive urban regeneration. Among the projects Khan has handled are the RichMix, a dynamic cross-cultural arts and media centre in London's East End; the motiroti, a London-based international arts organisation producing multilayered new media, visual and performing arts projects; and large-scale events such as the Millenium Dome's opening ceremony, the design ceremonies at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, the Queen's Golden Jubilee Commonwealth celebrations, and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Admission is free. The event is at 5:30 p.m. at the Australia Council for the Arts.
