HP TouchThat ever elusive goal to have everything at one’s fingertips has just been taken a step closer to being achieved. Actually make it two steps closer. The latest innovation from Microsoft Corp.: ‘Microsoft Surface’ is a surface computer, which provides
interaction with digital media through natural gestures, touch and physical objects. ‘Surface’ is a 30-inch touch-screen display in a table-like form that can concurrently recognise dozens of human movements and actual unique objects, read through identification tags.

The structure of the technology enables either the individual or small groups to interact in a way that feels familiar, eliminating the use of the traditional mouse and keyboard. Collaborative experiences with family and friends are made possible through various features exclusive to the Microsoft Surface technology: Multi-touch contact: Surface computing recognises many points of contact simultaneously. Multi-user experience: The horizontal form makes it easy for several people to gather around surface computers. Object recognition: Users can place physical objects on the surface to trigger digital responses.

Another advancement that provides all the information and technology we desire at the touch of our finger tips is the HP Smart Touch IQ770. The all-in-one touch screen PC features a high definition 19’W Bright View LCD display and is best suited to the social spaces of the home. The key features of the HP Smart Touch IQ770 are: HP SmartCentre – A personalisable page for quick access to information and links to favourite applications. HP SmartCalendar – Creates calendar events, voice, written or typed messages. HP Photosmart Touch – Upload, manage, edit, share and print digital photos. An inviting, glossy 19-inch wide BrightView LCD display is the focal point of the HP TouchSmart PC. The sleek and sturdy metallic frame conceals a full featured compute with high performance speakers, a 1.3 mega pixel web cam and microphone array. The adjustable LCD display can be tilted for height and to access front facing media card readers, A/V inputs and a slot load for the SuperMulti DVD burner. The HP Pocket Media Drive Bay can be attached to add portable, expendable storage. Interaction has been reinvented. The HP SmartTouch IQ770 and Microsoft ‘Surface’ are adding a new, interactive dimension to the family dinner table. Surface is expected to be released by the end of this year.
