Summer 2008 FashionTrends The Italian fashion week held in Milan last September left a creative, feminine flavour all over the runways. There were many different moods of the 2008 Spring - Summer collection expressed by the most renowned designers. Miuccia Prada started her show with a series of special flowered pyjamas: long blouses and trousers with a romantic oriental flavour, while Gucci chose to do a collection based on strong styles, cuts and intense contrasts of colour.

Giorgio Armani was inspired by the sun, the scent and the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea while Gianfranco Ferre started with loose fitting satin dresses. The show finished with the safari sensual look of Versace. Something different this year has captured everyone without exception, creating many unusual synergies. Something like a tempted whisper, a silent agreement to interpret a very glamorous look from the fifties came back today, with its charm and femininity intact: the “balloon look” that every woman, in the world, has dreamed of at least once in her lifetime. These creative interpretations are perfectly in line with every brand’s style but differing in feeling and emotion. All were displaying an amusing production of little puffed dresses with little belts on the wais and the most eclectic fabric fantasies! The creative staff of Gianfranco Ferre paid tribute to a designer who died before the start of fashion week. An “architectural” collection of his style was presented, enriching his famous shirts with soft puffy sleeves, creating a delightful little balloon dress.

Gucci chose the classical balloon shape for his shorts and skirts, in black and white within insertions of yellow and pink. Prada preferred long ones: airy bubbles in checked strong colours and slighter tones with stylized flower prints. Giorgio Armani presented sensual pants and shirts in different fabrics, tied up at the knees. Versace’s models were wearing shorts and jackets with puffy pockets that emphasized the “round” shapes of the silhouette. The perfection of skilful Italian tailoring, the research and the attention to detail can be seen everywhere. The manufacturing of all the collections is focusing on the selection of materials and accessories, becoming desired by every woman. The fascination of the next Spring
Summer collection emphasized a femininity that discovers an amused and carefree sensuality. It is not lacking a pinch of innocence while at the same time seduction is becoming a cheerful, funny game.
