There's no need to go far from Sydney to see some koalas, kangaroos, emus, and echidnas, as well as sharks and crocodiles. Getting to Taronga Zoo, located at the heart of Sydney, all it takes is a short walk to Darling Harbour and catching a ferry to Mosman or Manly. Just 12 minutes away from Sydney via ferry, Taronga has been called the "zoo with the view" because it offers breathtaking sights via the gondola ride, which takes one to the top of the zoo to see the zoo, harbour, and the city itself. Taronga Zoo offers its more than 2,000 animal species the same setting as their original habitat. Sydney also has one of the largest aquariums in the world, the Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour, which has the biggest collection of sharks in captivity, some of which are more than 3 meters long. The Sydney Aquarium has tunnels that let you see the sharks, manta rays, and fish, as well as a sanctuary where you can view the seals. A ferry ride away from the Circular Quay is the Oceanworld Manly, which holds sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, corals, and venomous sea creatures. Meanwhile, at the Featherdale Wildlife Park, you get to see an astonishing collection of koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and emus, and more than 30 species of rare and endangered animal life. |
