Holiday in Pink: Jaipur, the Pink City |

 Jaipur is one of the most beautiful cities in the state of Rajasthan, India with a special treat for tourists. The entire city literally meaning “City of Victory” is an architectural wonder, where the city is well-planned and worthy of mention in international circuits. The city is full of pomp and verve, which is ironic considering it is a part of a desert.
Summer temperatures are likely to reach 45°C, while in winter the minimum temperature is recorded at 5°C. The people are tall and well-built with bountiful energy. Their clothes are spectacularly colored as are the men’s turbans. The city is referred to as the “Pink City” because of the vast numbers of palaces that have been built using pink marble. The number of palaces and forts like the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall among others are enough to take one’s breath away as is the style in which they are built. There are very many places to be seen and admired as the city enjoys an old-world style charm and enchantment, much like Egypt does. One of the most impressive is the Jantar Mantar, which was one of five famous observatories. Another is the Ajmer Fort, which is a complex of palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples, built by three kings over a period of two centuries.
Apart from palaces, there are also a number of temples, like the famous Laxmi Narayan temple. One of the most spectacular of all palaces is the Jal Mahal, which is a tiny palace romantically situated in the middle of a small lake. Some of the places close by Jaipur are also scenic and are fit for visiting like Sanganer, Bagru and the Ramgarh Lake. Jaipur is nice to visit through the year, although one should be careful of the extrmes in weather conditions and be prepared for them. All in all, this is a beautiful city, full of sights, smells and delicacies and a breathtaking beauty about it. A certain pleasure to visit and go back for some more.
